Looking Forward

The past few weeks have been spent on Christmas themed projects.  It was the easiest month of homeschooling ever.  Best of all- it felt nothing like "school" or even what we've come to think of as "homeschool."  It just was.  I hope I can continue on that momentum now that the holidays are wrapping up.
Currently I am focusing on preparing the environment. Those of you familiar with Montessori recognize this much used phrase.  It is my anchor and one of the most important things I do to assist the girls in learning.

Here is what I am working on this week:
I just purchased Life of Fred math books.  I am really excited that they seem to be just what I was looking for!
I am preparing our continent 'shelf' focusing on Asia. (details posted soon)

  1. Sounds like a great month you had! I considered keeping out the Christmas themed work all year.LOL. The children have had the best of times learning. We love our Fred Math books. If you ordered the Fred Goldfish book there is a bit of talk about cigarrete smoking that turned my ten year old off a bit. Other than that it has made Math not even a requirement any more. Looking forward to reading about your Asia works. Have a Happy New Year!!

  2. Thanks for posting about Life of Fred. It refreshed my recollection when I heard about it a few years ago. I looked on the website and the sample lessons and purchased "Apples." I hope it works for all of us new Life of Fred folks (: We've been using Right Start Math and may continue on with that as well. Thanks for the idea!
