When your child is very young, especially early potty learning, carry a small potty in the car. When out and she has to go there is very little time for finding a bathroom. I am not a fan of public restrooms on the best of days-let alone with a touch everything toddler. Often we line the potty with a plastic bag to make clean up a cinch.
I know it can be tempting to put your toileting child in a pull up for car trips. I advise against this because it may create confusion. With our four children I have been strict about this, my girls never wore pull ups at all...until Dotty. She pees every time she sits in her car seat! So I gave in and began putting a pull up on her when we needed to be in the car. My theory of potty confusion was proven and I regret doing it. It isn't a super big deal because we weren't in a big rush anyway, but it doesn't seem fair to her and her quest to "do it myself!"
So help your child be successful by making a potty accessible when it is needed.
